Mustang GT4
Notes
The Ford Mustang GT4 is a customer racing car developed by Multimatic Motorsports for global GT4 competition, based on the S550-generation Mustang platform. The GT4 features Ford's 5.2-liter Voodoo flat-plane crank V8 engine (derived from the Shelby GT350) producing approximately 450-500 horsepower in GT4 Balance of Performance specification, paired with a Holinger six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters. The flat-plane crankshaft configuration provides 8,200 rpm redline and distinctive Ferrari-like exhaust note unlike traditional American V8s.
The Mustang GT4 features comprehensive racing modifications including FIA-certified roll cage, carbon fiber hood, doors, and rear wing, adjustable aerodynamics including front splitter and rear diffuser, Öhlins racing suspension, limited-slip differential, racing brake system with ABS, and center-lock wheels. Weighing approximately 3,406 pounds per GT4 regulations, the car achieves competitive lap times across diverse circuits. Multimatic leveraged their extensive motorsport experience (including Ford GT Le Mans program) to develop sophisticated suspension geometry and aerodynamics optimized for GT4 racing. The Mustang GT4 competes in Pirelli World Challenge (now SRO America), British GT Championship, and various national championships globally, earning podiums and victories since its 2016 introduction. The car offers teams and drivers American V8 character with sophisticated European-style flat-plane crank technology, strong factory support through Multimatic and Ford Performance, and the cachet of racing America's most iconic pony car in professional GT competition. The Mustang GT4 has proven particularly popular in North American series where the Mustang nameplate carries strong marketing value.
