O Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 com Pacote de Performance Z07 representa a expressão definitiva da engenharia Corvette de sétima geração. Fabricado na lendária Planta de Montagem de Bowling Green em Kentucky de 2015 a 2019, o Z06 Z07 combina potência V8 americana sobrealimentada com componentes focados em pista que o transformaram em um competidor legítimo de supercarro. Revelado no North American International Auto Show 2014 em Detroit, esta iteração do nome Z06 leva adiante um patrimônio que remonta a 1963 integrando tecnologia de ponta.
No coração do C7 Z06 Z07 está o motor LT4—um V8 sobrealimentado de 6,2 litros equipado com supercharger Eaton R1740 TVS, entregando 650 cavalos a 6.400 rpm e massivo torque de 650 lb-ft a 3.600 rpm. A arquitetura avançada do LT4 inclui injeção direta, comando variável contínuo, tecnologia de desativação de cilindros Active Fuel Management e sistema de lubrificação de cárter seco. Aceleração 0-60 mph em apenas 2,95 segundos com o automático de oito marchas ou 3,5 segundos com o manual de sete marchas, velocidade máxima de 196 mph (315 km/h).
O Pacote de Performance Z07 de $ 8.995 transforma o carro em arma de pista. Inclui discos de freio cerâmico-carbono Brembo de 394 x 36 mm dianteiros e 388 x 33 mm traseiros, economizando 23 libras de peso não suspenso. O pacote incorpora pneus semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 em montagem escalonada: P285/30ZR19 dianteiros e P335/25ZR20 traseiros, oferecendo aderência de nível pista com aceleração lateral superior a 1,2g. O ajuste de suspensão FE7 aumenta as molas em 62% dianteiras e 22% traseiras.
As melhorias aerodinâmicas incluem um splitter frontal agressivo com winglets de fibra de carbono, planos de mergulho, saias laterais gerando efeito solo e spoiler traseiro wickerbill ajustável manualmente. Configurados para máxima carga aerodinâmica, estes elementos geram até 350 libras de carga. O Z07 inclui rodas forjadas de alumínio leves de 19x10 polegadas dianteiras e 20x12 polegadas traseiras.
As credenciais de desempenho em pista foram validadas por numerosos testes independentes. A revista alemã Sport Auto alcançou tempo de 7:13.9 no Nürburgring Nordschleife com Christian Gebhardt dirigindo—quase seis segundos mais rápido que o C6 ZR1 geração anterior. Revistas americanas registraram acelerações laterais superiores a 1,20g e distâncias de frenagem 60-0 mph cerca de 95 pés com as cerâmicas carbono.
A produção foi de 2015 a 2019, cada ano trazendo refinamentos. Modelos iniciais 2015-2016 sofriam de inadequações do sistema de resfriamento causando redução de potência. GM resolveu nos modelos 2017+ com trocadores de calor melhorados e radiadores ampliados. O ano modelo 2019 marca a produção final C7 antes do revolucionário Corvette C8 de motor central.
