Le Hoosier A7 est un radial de compétition homologué DOT spécifiquement conçu pour l'autocross, les time trials et les courses de côte où une adhérence maximale sur le sec à des températures de fonctionnement plus basses est essentielle. Partageant sa construction avec son frère R7, l'A7 emploie une formulation de composé plus souple optimisée pour des températures ambiantes entre 70-100°F, en faisant le choix préféré pour des conditions plus fraîches ou des événements plus courts où les pneus peuvent ne pas atteindre les températures plus élevées requises par le R7.

Le design de bande de roulement basé sur un slick de course de l'A7 est moulé à seulement 4/32" de profondeur, éliminant le besoin de raser les pneus tout en maximisant la surface de contact. La structure interne présente une construction symétrique avec deux ceintures d'acier légères renforcées par une nappe de nylon circonférentielle enroulée en spirale sur deux nappes de nylon. Cette construction éprouvée offre un retour précis et des caractéristiques de maniement constantes à travers de multiples cycles thermiques.

Hoosier a conçu le composé A7 pour prolonger l'usure et les cycles thermiques utilisables par rapport aux générations précédentes comme l'A6, avec moins de chute de performance pendant les longues courses et une dégradation réduite au cours de la vie du pneu. Le caoutchouc souple atteint une traction optimale lorsque les températures dans les stands montrent 110-140°F—nettement plus bas que la plage cible de 180-200°F du R7.

Avec un indice UTQG de 40 C A et une classification de vitesse W (168 mph), l'A7 offre une adhérence de composé de course authentique dans un ensemble homologué route.
