Memphis International Speedway

The Memphis International Raceway is a multi-purpose motorsports park in Millington, Tennessee, 25 minutes away from downtown Memphis, right beside the Charles W Baker Airport. The facility includes a 4,400-foot (1,340 m) drag strip, a tri-oval track of three-quarters of a mile (1.2 km), and a 1.8-mile (2.9 km) road course. The racing competitions held regularly in the Memphis International Raceway are the IHRA drag racing series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and several NASA/SCCA events. The Volunteer State has a humid continental climate, meaning short but freezing winters and summers that get very hot, with abundant precipitations throughout the year. 

The layout of the road course at Memphis International Raceway is oriented south to north, going in two parallel segments with a 3500 ft. (1.06 km) straightaway on the west side and six of the eight turns of the circuit on the east side. The Start/Finish is in the middle of the main straightaway, the fastest sector of the track where racers develop the highest velocities. Turns one and two are a combination of right-handers taking drivers back south into a quick succession of turns coming in alternating fashion. Turn 6 is a 90-degree left-hander followed by a 90-degree right-hander leading into the last turn of the circuit, the sweeper number eight, where drivers start accelerating their way into the main straightaway.
