La Toyota GR86 è una coupé sportiva leggera a trazione posteriore sviluppata in collaborazione con Subaru, introdotta nel 2022 come successore della Toyota 86. È equipaggiata con un motore boxer flat-four aspirato da 2.4L che eroga 228 hp e 184 lb-ft di coppia, un incremento significativo rispetto al motore 2.0L del modello precedente. Questo nuovo propulsore migliora lo scatto da 0 a 60 mph portandolo a circa 6 secondi con il cambio manuale, risolvendo le critiche relative alla potenza della generazione precedente.
La GR86 mantiene la sua configurazione incentrata sul guidatore e il baricentro basso, grazie al motore boxer e alla costruzione leggera. È disponibile con cambio manuale a 6 marce o automatico a 6 rapporti con paddle al volante. Il telaio è stato irrigidito per migliorare la tenuta di strada, mentre le sospensioni sono state tarate per offrire un controllo preciso e un feedback diretto, rendendola estremamente divertente su strade tortuose o in pista.
Il design esterno è snello e aerodinamico, con una griglia frontale aggressiva, fari LED e linee scolpite che conferiscono un’estetica sportiva. All’interno, la GR86 presenta materiali migliorati, un quadro strumenti digitale, un touchscreen da 8 pollici con Apple CarPlay e Android Auto, e sedili sportivi avvolgenti.
