2015: The BMW M4 F82 debuts as the high-performance variant of the 4 Series, featuring a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine (S55), producing 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Key features include adaptive M suspension, active M differential, and a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof.
2016: Minor updates include the addition of standard features such as Harman Kardon audio, along with new options for full Merino leather and the BMW Individual program for customization.
2017: The Competition Package becomes available, boosting power to 444 hp, revising suspension and stability control settings, adding unique 20-inch wheels, and M Sport seats for enhanced performance and styling.
2018: Standard equipment is expanded, and iDrive 6.0 infotainment is introduced. A special limited-edition M4 CS model is released with 454 hp, unique aerodynamic tweaks, and lighter materials for improved performance.
2019: The M4 remains largely unchanged, with slight adjustments to available options. Production of the F82 generation winds down as BMW prepares for the next-generation M4.
