@MSVTrackdays #HowFast - Bedford Autodrome

After a rollercoaster last @JavelinTD Sprint Series round at @croftcircuit, we set our sights on a new event at Bedford Autodrome - MSVT's "How Fast".
"How Fast" has, for nearly a decade, run annually around the shorter 'West' configuration on the old Thurleigh airfield, and (to my knowledge at least) is one of the rare few competitive events permitted at Bedford Autodrome.
The format affords all competitors a 1-hour open-pit-lane practice session, before dust is blown off the transponders (or in our case, the stopwatch!) and the time trials begin.
Unlike the Javelin Series with its standing-start, competitors must complete an Out Lap, then 2x Timed Laps (fastest counts) and finally an In Lap. Whilst most competitors went full-attack from the beginning, when shod with our super-soft EXTREME sprint tyres, we found we needed a "slow out" lap to ensure they weren't beyond their operating temperatures before the end of our timed runs.
Our first timed lap (1:26.68) felt great, improving on our best practice time by approx. 2.5 seconds. And, against the odds, despite being slower for most of the lap, we managed to improve on our second lap (1:25.22) by stealing some time in the final sector.
MSVT maintain a 'How Fast Leaderboard' of all-time fastest laps with a very loose class structure, and our 1:25.22 was only 0.96s away from the fastest-ever 'Hot Hatch' time (1:24.26).
However, we subsequently learned that both of our laps had been deleted for track limit infringements and consequently may not appear on the official leaderboard. The only place this seems plausible is on the hairpin exit and whilst it's tempting to argue no advantage was gained, unfortunately rules are rules.
Nonetheless, we had a fun day of light-hearted, friendly competition at our local circuit, with plenty of amusing sketchy moments included at the end of the video.
Our next competitive event will be @JavelinTD Sprint Series round 7 at Snetterton!
