Tor Poznan
The Tor Poznan racetrack is a 2.53-mile (4.07-km) racing circuit paved in 1975 on lands belonging to the Ławica airport, just outside Poznan, Poland. The design of the raceway is a work of the polish engineer Mieczyslaw Bilinski, who had the Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone as an advisor. It is the largest race track in Poland and one of the most important ones in Eastern Europe. The continental climate of Poznan offers ideal temperature and humidity for racing in Summer, with pleasant Springs/Autumns and cold Winters. There are frequent but not abundant precipitations during the warmer seasons, so any type of track surface condition is possible for racing.
Races at Tor Poznan start in the middle of the front straightaway. Turn number one is a long curve to the right, followed immediately by a sweeping right-hander number two. The Devil's Smile is next: a 60-degree left-hander forcing racers to downshift and keep their speed down to face its twin turn coming at four. Turn number five is a slight change of direction to the right, and turn six is another hard braking 60-degree corner called Corn/Small Pan. Turns seven to 12 are fast-paced sweepers preparing drivers to enter the back straight after the 90-degree right-hander number 13. The Last Right is also the last corner, number 14, which closes the loop and connects the back straight with the front one.
