Ricardo Tormo Circuit - Valencia Notes

The Ricardo Tormo Circuit is a state-of-the-art FIA Grade 1 racing and motorcycling venue in Cheste, a small and picturesque community near Valencia, Spain. World-class competitions such as the Moto GP Valencian Community Grand Prix, the FIA GT Championship, or the European LeMans Series come to Cheste year after year, gathering crowds of motorsport enthusiasts filling the 120,000 capacity of the circuit. The raceway was born in 1999 as part of a project whose goal was creating Spain's cradle of Champions: the Spanish Formula 1 Champion Fernando Alonzo used the track in his formation years. The pleasant Mediterranean climate in Valencia is the ideal setting for any motorsports competition.

The 2.48-mile (3.99-km) trajectory of the Ricardo Tormo Circuit goes counterclockwise for 14-corners, starting at the middle of its front straightaway. When racers enter Aspar, they will be near 230 km/h (142.9 mph) of speed, passing the sweeper at 190 km/h (118 mph). The sharp turn Doohan cuts the velocity in half, and the technical stretch from there until reaching Angel Nieto keeps racers focusing in good maneuvering. The Curva de la Afición passes the main Grandstands and leads into an exciting snaking sector covering five corners with alternating directions and radius. The wide-angle left-hander 13 transitions into Adrian Campos, and from there, racers re-enter the front straight to complete a lap of this entertaining road course.
