1992: The Civic CX debuted as part of the fifth-generation Civic (EG) lineup. It featured a 1.5L D15B8 inline-four engine producing around 70 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Designed as the most basic trim, the CX lacked many amenities like power steering, air conditioning, or a radio, which kept its weight and cost low. This model was aimed at maximizing fuel efficiency and affordability.
1993: Honda made minimal changes, focusing on small interior improvements and minor updates to increase durability. The CX continued to be the lightest and most fuel-efficient Civic variant, thanks to its basic equipment and small engine.
1994: Honda introduced slight updates to safety features, adding side-impact protection to comply with updated U.S. regulations. Other than these safety improvements, the model remained largely the same.
1995: The final year for the fifth-generation Civic CX saw no significant changes as Honda prepared to transition to the sixth-generation Civic. Minor color updates were made, but the core design and performance remained consistent.
