O BMW M240i F22 representa a culminação da evolução do cupê compacto de segunda geração Série 2 introduzido em 2016 substituindo a designação M235i através de melhorias abrangentes do trem de força entregando 340 cavalos do seis cilindros em linha B58 turboalimentado estabelecendo credibilidade de desempenho fechando lacuna entre 230i padrão e variantes M2 completas. O seis cilindros em linha B58 turboalimentado de 3,0 litros produz 340 cavalos a 5.500 RPM com 369 libras-pés de torque de 1.520 a 4.500 RPM. O facelift LCI 2017 trouxe design exterior refinado através de faróis LED atualizados com assinatura de luzes diurnas hexagonais substituindo elementos circulares anteriores. A produção concluiu em 2021 com Série 2 G42 de terceira geração adotando atualizações de plataforma evolutivas, enquanto exemplos F22 M240i mantêm fortes valores de mercado usado variando de $25.000 a $45.000.

B58 turbocharged 3.0L inline-six with 340hp/369 lb-ft, ZF eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel-drive or xDrive all-wheel-drive. Adaptive M Sport suspension, electronic limited-slip differential, M Sport brakes with four-piston calipers. 0-60 mph: 4.2 seconds (RWD).
2017: LCI facelift: updated LED headlights with hexagonal DRL signature, revised taillights, subtle front bumper modifications. Interior updates: white instrument cluster dials replacing orange lighting, touchscreen iDrive system with Apple CarPlay, improved connectivity features, enhanced cabin materials quality.
2018: Continued post-LCI specification with 340hp B58 engine. Expanded M Performance parts catalog including carbon fiber exterior components, performance exhaust systems, suspension upgrades.
