Atlanta Motor Speedway

The Atlanta Motor Speedway is a race track complex 40 minutes south of Atlanta in Hampton, Georgia. The facility includes the outer NASCAR quad-oval track with the typical high-banking sections in the curves and an inner road course that combines with the former on a 2.5-mile (4.02-km) circuit with an average speed of 85 mph (136 km/h). The subtropical Atlanta climate is ideal for racing year-round, as almost any type of atmospheric condition is possible depending on the season.  Some of the events held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway include the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, or the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, to name a few. 

Races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway start/finish in front of the big grandstands, on the lower-banking segment of the NASCAR quad-track. Not too far from there, the road course circuit deviates into the inner field of the complex, taking a long, fast-paced corner number one. A short straight segment leads into corner number two, a tighter to take right-hander. A longer straightaway leads into a snaking combination of four turns, challenging drivers to remain in control before reentering the quad-oval track. The high-banking turn one of the quad-oval is next, followed by the top acceleration section using the NASCAR trajectory to complete the loop.
