Autodromo San Antonio Notes

The Autodromo San Antonio is a 1.11-mile (1.78-km) road course constructed in San Antonio, the most important port of Chile. There are 8-turns in the raceway, which has a simple layout featuring a 700-meter (2296 feet) long front straightaway. The venue hosts Formula 3 events regularly and other local motorsport competitions such as the TC2000 Series or the Stock Car Chile Turismo V8, to name a few. The Mediterranean climate of San Antonio is ideal for outdoor activities, with temperate weather and moderate precipitations throughout the year. The average speed for racing the circuit is 70 mph (112 km/h).

Races at San Antonio start/finish on the front straight, which is also the second-longest of the track. Downhill from the start line, racers find a fast-paced sweeping corner number one and a 90-degree left-hander taking them into the 700-meter back straight. High-performance vehicles can develop up to 180 km/h (111 mph) by the end of the back straight. Another 90-degree left-hander comes next, leading racers to a short acceleration section before the heaviest braking point of the track immediately before turn number four. The fourth corner is the tightest of San Antonio and leads into the highly technical stretch covering three 90-degree corners six, seven, and eight. Once racers are back in the front straight, they have an open way to overtake their opponents and race their car to top speed.
