The Nissan Almera N15 2.0 GTi features SR20DE naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder producing 143 horsepower (105 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 131 lb-ft torque at 4,800 rpm through five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel-drive, achieving 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds and 131 mph top speed at 1,135 kg weight. Uprated suspension, front and rear strut braces, and quicker steering rack provide handling improvements over standard Almera hatchback.
Available exclusively as three-door hatchback from 1996-2000, the N15 GTi represents Nissan budget hot hatch positioning during 1990s period when Japanese manufacturers emphasized reliability and value over outright performance. The SR20DE engine shared with higher-specification Nissan Primera GT provides proven durability and parts availability, though modest power output and front-drive layout limit performance compared to contemporary European hot hatch competition like Peugeot 306 GTI-6 and Ford Escort RS2000.
