Broadford Speedway
The Broadford Speedway is a 1.33-mile (2.14-km) motor racing complex located in a hilly patch of land in Broadford, Victoria, an hour ride north from downtown Melbourne, Australia. The road course is next to the State Motorcycle Sports Complex, one of Australia's top destinations for motocross enthusiasts, and hosts high-profile motorcycling competitions such as the Victorian Individual Speedway Championship. Car racing activities are limited to vehicle testing because of the difficulty of the track's topography, but high-performance vehicles travel the speedway at an average speed of 71 mph. The weather is usually good at Broadford, with frequent precipitations in all seasons.
There are 12 corners in the Broadford Speedway and two long straights full of ups and downs. The front straightaway is off-camber and leads into a steep climb on corners number one and two. The back straight is longer than the front one and goes through the top of the hills, with the bumpy terrain adding a three-dimensional feeling to the track. The 90-degree bend at turn number five takes drivers into a full-speed nosedive until reaching turn 12. Racers go uphill from there and reenter the front straight, completing a full lap on a segment primed for overtaking.
