Präsentiert in einem Hinterradantriebs-Mittelmotor-Layout umfasst der Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 ein 6-Gang-Schaltgetriebe und ein mechanisches Sperrdifferential, das dieses 3100-Lbs-Auto in nur 4,3 Sekunden von 0-60 mph treibt. Die jemals in Streckentests registrierte Höchstgeschwindigkeit beträgt 182 mph.

Er kommt ab Werk mit einer Zahnstangenlenkung vom Ritzeltyp und unabhängiger Feder-Vorder-/Hinterradaufhängung. Alle vier Räder verwenden das belüftete Scheibenbremssystem mit Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 235/35 ZR20-Reifen vorne und 265/35 ZR20 hinten.
