The Radical SR8 RX is an extreme lightweight sports racing car manufactured by British company Radical Sportscars, featuring a rear-mounted RPE-developed 2.7-liter V8 engine producing 430 horsepower. The V8 is based on paired Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle engine architecture using Hayabusa cylinder heads and connecting rods with custom pistons that increase compression from 12.5:1 to 14:1, along with upgraded camshafts, ported cylinder heads, and bespoke intake and exhaust systems. The 72-degree V8 configuration with eight-butterfly throttle body fuel injection delivers power through an AP Racing clutch to a Powertec six-speed sequential transaxle with torque-biased limited-slip differential.
Weighing just 1,490 pounds (676 kg) thanks to its powder-coated carbon steel spaceframe chassis with two-seat configuration, the SR8 RX achieves astonishing performance with 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and sustained lateral/braking forces of 2.5G. The car features fully adjustable Nik titanium low-friction coil-over dampers, 280mm vented brake rotors with Radical four-piston calipers, and sophisticated aerodynamics that generate significant downforce. Despite its extreme performance capability, the SR8 RX is street legal with functioning headlights, taillights, and turn signals, though it's primarily designed for track use. Priced between $162,000-$250,000, the SR8 RX represents the pinnacle of Radical's sports racing car lineup, offering genuine prototype-level performance and handling dynamics rivaling purpose-built racing machines, making it a popular choice for track day enthusiasts and time attack competitors seeking the ultimate driving experience.
