The Chevrolet C8 Corvette E-Ray is the first hybrid and all-wheel-drive Corvette, combining electric power with a mid-mounted V8 engine for a unique blend of performance, efficiency, and capability. Launched in 2024, the E-Ray uses an electric motor paired with Chevrolet’s iconic 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine, marking a historic moment for the Corvette lineup.
The E-Ray’s powertrain combines the 495-horsepower V8, driving the rear wheels, with an electric motor adding 160 horsepower to the front wheels, for a total system output of 655 horsepower. This setup enables rapid acceleration, with the E-Ray reaching 0-60 mph in about 2.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest Corvettes ever. The car operates with a seamless transition between electric and gasoline power, offering an electric-only “Stealth Mode” for quiet, low-speed driving up to 45 mph.
Key features of the E-Ray include an all-wheel-drive system designed to improve traction in various conditions, adaptive Magnetic Ride Control for optimized handling, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes for high-performance stopping power. The E-Ray also features a regenerative braking system to recharge the battery during deceleration.
The exterior design of the E-Ray closely resembles the Z06 with wider fenders, a distinctive front fascia, and specific badging to highlight its hybrid nature. Inside, it features premium materials, a digital gauge cluster with hybrid-specific displays, and the latest Chevrolet infotainment system with connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
