The BMW M235iR F22 (also designated M235i Racing or M235iR) is a customer racing car developed by BMW Motorsport for VLN/NLS endurance racing and various national racing series, based on the F22 2 Series coupe platform. The M235iR features BMW's N55 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing approximately 333 horsepower in race specification, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters adapted for racing use. The control formula ensures cost-effective competition with identical equipment across all teams.
The M235iR includes comprehensive racing modifications: FIA-certified roll cage, racing seat and safety equipment, coilover suspension optimized for endurance racing, limited-slip differential, enhanced cooling systems, racing brake system with ABS, center-lock wheels with quick-change system, and aerodynamic elements including front splitter and rear wing. Weighing approximately 3,135 pounds (1,422 kg), the car achieves competitive lap times while prioritizing reliability and cost-effectiveness for long-distance endurance racing.
