2014: The M4 F82 launched as the successor to the M3 Coupe, powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six engine producing 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It featured advanced weight-saving measures, such as a carbon-fiber roof, and came with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
2015: The M4 received minor updates with additional options, such as enhanced interior materials, new exterior colors, and optional Adaptive LED headlights, which added to its appeal and customization options.
2016: This year saw the introduction of the M4 GTS, a limited-edition, track-focused model producing 493 hp with a water injection system, lightweight construction, a large rear wing, and specialized aerodynamics.
2017: BMW introduced the M4 Competition Package, which increased power to 444 hp and included upgraded suspension, revised exhaust tuning, and unique styling elements, offering a more aggressive feel and appearance.
2018: A minor facelift (LCI) brought subtle design changes, including updated LED headlights and taillights, as well as new interior technology options. The M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre was released to celebrate BMW M’s 30th anniversary.
2019: The M4 CS (Club Sport) was introduced as a special edition between the Competition and GTS models, featuring 454 hp, a unique lightweight configuration, and additional aerodynamic tweaks for improved performance.
2020: The final year for the F82 M4 saw it continue largely unchanged as BMW prepared for the transition to the next-generation G82 M4, closing out the F82 generation’s successful run in the M lineup.
