Der Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup ist eine reine Rennversion des 911, entwickelt für Porsches Einheitsmeisterschaften, produziert von 2013 bis 2016. Dieser GT3 Cup-Wagen der ersten Generation 991 verfügt über einen saugmotorisierten 3,8-Liter-Boxermotor mit Direkteinspritzung, der 460 PS (338 kW) bei 7.500 U/min produziert und bis 8.500 U/min dreht, was eine Leistungssteigerung von 10 PS gegenüber seinem Vorgänger der 997-Generation darstellt. Die Leistung wird durch ein schaltwippen-geschaltetes 6-Gang-Dog-Getriebe, entwickelt von Porsche Motorsport, an die Hinterräder übertragen, was das erste Mal markiert, dass Schaltwippen in einem Porsche-Marken-Trophy-Rennwagen verwendet wurden, gepaart mit einem mechanischen Sperrdifferential.
Der 991.1 GT3 Cup wiegt ca. 1.200 kg (2.590 Pfund) trocken, erreicht durch umfangreichen Einsatz von Leichtbaumaterialien und einem abgespeckten Wettbewerbs-Innenraum mit vollständigem Überrollkäfig und Renn-Sicherheitsausrüstung. Ein signifikanter technischer Fortschritt war die 100-mm-Radstandverlängerung im Vergleich zum Straßenwagen mit komplett neu gestalteter Vorder- und Hinterachsgeometrie für optimierte Streckenleistung. Ausschließlich in Weiß produziert auf derselben Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen-Montagelinie wie straßenzugelassene 911-Modelle, bevor er das finale Rennsetup im Weissach Motorsport Centre erhielt, wurde der 991.1 GT3 Cup mit 181.200 Euro plus MwSt. bepreist. Er konkurrierte im Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup und zahlreichen Carrera Cup-Serien weltweit und etablierte Porsches fortgesetzte Dominanz im professionellen Einheitsrennsport.
