2023: Mid-cycle refresh introduced, making the M Sport appearance package standard across the range. This update included design tweaks and enhanced standard equipment.

2025: Introduction of the "Handschalter" package, offering a 6-speed manual transmission for the first time in the Z4 M40i. This package also includes unique suspension tuning, mixed-size M light-alloy wheels (19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear), and exclusive design elements such as Extended Shadowline trim and black badging.
