2001: Introduction of the 330i sedan and 330Ci coupe/convertible in the E46 lineup. Both models featured the 3.0L M54 inline-6 engine producing 225 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque. Offered with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Standard features included automatic climate control, a sunroof, and optional leather seats. Sport Package models had a stiffer suspension for enhanced handling.

2002: Minor updates with no major mechanical changes; adjustments made to options and packages. All-wheel-drive version 330xi introduced for the sedan, targeting customers in regions with harsh weather.

2003: Exterior facelift for sedans and wagons, including revised headlights, taillights, and front/rear bumpers. Coupes and convertibles retained their original design until 2004. A new 6-speed automatic transmission replaced the 5-speed automatic for smoother performance and better fuel efficiency. Minor interior material and trim upgrades.

2004: Exterior update for 330Ci coupe and convertible, including redesigned headlights, taillights, and a more aggressive front bumper.
