2014: Launch year of the seventh-generation GT3. Debuted at Geneva Motor Show in March 2013. First GT3 with PDK-only transmission (no manual option), which proved controversial among purists. Featured all-new 3.8L MA175 engine with 475 hp at 8,250 rpm. Introduced active rear-wheel steering for the first time in a production Porsche. Standard PASM and Sport Chrono package. Engine recall issued in February 2014 for connecting rod bearing issues affecting early production units.
2015: Second production year with refined calibration. All recall-affected engines replaced or repaired. Ceramic composite brakes (PCCB) remained popular option. Club Sport package available with roll cage, six-point harness, and fire extinguisher. Front axle lift system offered to improve daily usability. Production continued at Zuffenhausen alongside the new GT3 RS variant (which is a separate, more extreme model).
2016: Final production year of the 991.1 GT3 before transition to 991.2 generation. Total production run estimated at 6,300 units worldwide. Highly sought after by collectors as the last naturally-aspirated GT3 before the 4.0L engine of 991.2. Resale values have remained strong due to the PDK-only controversy making this generation distinctive. Factory colors included GT Silver, Racing Yellow, and Guards Red as popular choices.
