Porsche 996.2 GT3は、2003年から2005年にかけて生産された、996 GT3の改良版である第二世代モデルです。このモデルは初代996.1 GT3に対して複数の改良が施され、パフォーマンス、ハンドリング、ドライバビリティが向上しています。
エンジン：996.2 GT3は3.6LのMezger水平対向6気筒エンジンを継続搭載しつつ、出力を360 hpから380 hpへと向上させ、加速性能と最高速性能が改善されました。
トランスミッション：6速マニュアルトランスミッションを引き続き採用し、よりスムーズなシフトフィールと高負荷時の耐久性が強化されています。
サスペンションとブレーキ：サスペンションシステムはハンドリングと応答性を高めるために見直されました。ブレーキも大型ローターと改良されたキャリパーを装備し、サーキット走行時の制動力が向上しています。
空力性能とスタイリング：996.2 GT3はより大型でアグレッシブなリアウイングや改良されたフロントバンパーなど、空力パーツを更新し、高速域でのダウンフォースと安定性を強化しました。また、控えめながらも洗練されたスタイリングの変更により、ロードでの存在感とサーキット性能が向上しています。
996.2 GT3はその向上したパフォーマンスと洗練されたハンドリングにより、初期GT3シリーズの中でも特に評価の高いモデルとして愛好家から称賛されています。
