Waterford Hills Road Racing
Waterford Hills Road Racing is a 60 years old race track located at a 45-minute drive northwest of downtown Detroit Michigan. It is an exciting-to-drive 1.5-mile (2.41-km) raceway with plenty of elevation changes, eight turns with varying angles left and right, some of them with multiple apexes and several straight segments ideal for passing opponents during a race. The climate in the metropolitan area of Detroit is Continental, with cold, snowy winters, hot summers, and an even distribution of precipitation throughout the year. Weather conditions can change in a matter of hours, so it's better to be prepared for a tire change and ready to drive on a wet surface.
The track racing rules are those of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and all vehicles should comply with the technical specifications of the SCCA to hit the asphalt. SCCA and NASA competitions are held regularly at Waterford Hills Road Racing, and a driving school for aspiring racers operates in the facility. Some of the distinct features drivers find more appealing at Waterford are the Hilltop Turn, the Swamp Turns (1 & 2), and the Gulch Turn, coming right after the Start/Finish Line.
