IMI Motorsports Complex

IMI Motorsports Complex, located in Calhan, Colorado, is a versatile motorsports facility catering to a wide range of disciplines. Established in the early 2000s, IMI has grown from a small dirt oval into a multifaceted complex featuring a paved road course, a dedicated karting track, and a sprawling off-road area.

The road course is a 1.7-mile, 11-turn circuit known for its challenging and flowing layout. Characterized by significant elevation changes and a mix of high-speed sweepers and tight, technical corners, it demands precision and car control. The asphalt is generally well-maintained, providing good grip levels. The layout promotes overtaking opportunities, particularly under braking into several of the sharper corners. Runoff areas are adequate in most sections, enhancing safety.

Technical characteristics include a blend of decreasing radius turns, off-camber sections, and a long straight that allows for considerable speed. The elevation changes are a significant factor, affecting braking points and car balance. The track is challenging for both drivers and engineers, requiring a well-balanced setup to maximize performance.
