Der Porsche 992 GT3 Cup repräsentiert die achte Generation von Porsches speziell gebautem Markenpokal-Rennplattform, eingeführt 2021 als Evolution der 911 GT3 Cup-Linie, die den Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, weltweite Carrera Cup-Serien und zahlreiche Kundensport-Meisterschaften bedient. Basierend auf dem 992-Generation 911 GT3 Straßenwagen, aber umfassend für den Wettbewerb modifiziert, verfügt der GT3 Cup über einen saugmotorisierten 4.0L Boxermotor mit etwa 510 PS bei 8.400 U/min, gepaart mit einem sequenziellen Sechsgang-Schaltwippen-Getriebe, das vom 911 RSR Langstreckenrenner abgeleitet wurde und das vorherige Siebengang-PDK für verbesserte Haltbarkeit und schnellere Schaltzeiten ersetzt.
Die aerodynamische Entwicklung konzentrierte sich auf erhöhten Abtrieb durch neu gestalteten Front-Splitter, Tauchbleche und massiven festen Heckflügel, der deutlich größeren Abtrieb als der Vorgänger 991.2 GT3 Cup erzeugt und gleichzeitig Porsches charakteristische Stabilität beibehält. Das Chassis integriert eine zentrale Kühler-Konfiguration, die vom 911 RSR übernommen wurde und die Gewichtsverteilung und Kühleffizienz verbessert, während die Fahrwerksgeometrie umfassende Updates erhielt, einschließlich überarbeiteter Kinematik, einstellbarer Stabilisatoren und positionsempfindlicher Dämpfer, die präzise Setup-Anpassungen für unterschiedliche Streckeneigenschaften ermöglichen.
Gewichtsreduzierungsmaßnahmen erreichten ein Leergewicht von etwa 1.400 kg durch Eliminierung straßenzugelassener Ausrüstung, leichte Materialien und rennsportspezifische Komponenten einschließlich Polycarbonat-Fenstern, entferntem Innenraum und FIA-spezifischem Überrollkäfig. Das Bremssystem verfügt über Aluminium-Monoblock-Bremssättel mit sechs Kolben vorne und vier Kolben hinten mit belüfteten Stahlscheiben und Bosch Motorsport ABS, das wiederholbare Leistung während Rad-an-Rad-Rennen bietet. Der 992 GT3 Cup dient als primäres Trainingsgelände für junge Fahrer, die Porsche-Werksverträge und Langstreckenrennprogramme anstreben.
