El Honda Civic EG representa la evolución de quinta generación producida desde septiembre de 1991 hasta 1995 que redefinió fundamentalmente la fórmula de auto compacto a través de construcción liviana, arquitectura sofisticada de suspensión de doble horquilla y disponibilidad de trenes motrices VTEC de altas revoluciones estableciendo la plataforma como ícono de deportes de motor de base y piedra angular de la cultura de ajuste JDM manteniendo estatus legendario tres décadas post-producción. El B16A DOHC VTEC inline-cuatro produce 170 caballos de fuerza a 8,000 RPM con 116 libras-pie de torque a 7,000 RPM transformando características conservadoras de economía de bajas RPM en entrega agresiva de rendimiento de altas RPM. La producción concluyó en 1995 con valores de mercado usado contemporáneos variando $5,000-$20,000 dependiendo de condición y especificaciones SiR japonesas o VTi europeas con motores B16A VTEC genuinos comandando primas.
