La Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R S550 est la sixième génération de Mustang, produite de 2015 à 2020 dans l’usine Ford de Flat Rock, Michigan. La GT350R est un coupé deux portes équipé d’un moteur V8 atmosphérique 5,2 L VooDoo (4 soupapes par cylindre, double arbre à cames en tête), développant 526 ch (533 PS/302 kW) à 7500 tr/min et 581 Nm. Elle accélère de 0 à 60 mph en seulement 3,9 secondes, un chiffre impressionnant pour n’importe quelle voiture, et atteint une vitesse maximale de 170 mph (272 km/h).
La Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R S550 est dotée d’une boîte manuelle à 6 rapports, et incarne en essence une muscle car moderne, avec sa propulsion arrière et son poids contenu de 1660 kg (3660 lbs). Des jantes en fibre de carbone dernier cri, un splitter avant plus large que celui des générations précédentes, ainsi qu’un aileron arrière fixe pour améliorer les performances aérodynamiques, figurent parmi les éléments qui font de la GT350R l’une des Mustangs les plus rapides sur circuit comme sur route. Le train de pneus d’origine est composé de Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, en 305/30 ZR19 à l’avant et 315/30 ZR19 à l’arrière, associés à une direction assistée à crémaillère. La suspension est une McPherson à double rotule à l’avant et un essieu arrière indépendant à bras multiples avec ressorts hélicoïdaux. Son prix de 50 000 $ rend cette Mustang particulièrement attractive pour les pilotes en herbe en quête d’une expérience muscle car américaine.
