La Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 rappresenta la variante di punta ad alte prestazioni di settima generazione di General Motors, prodotta dal 2015 al 2019 come derivato sovralimentato e orientato alla pista della piattaforma C7 Stingray, pensata per gli appassionati che cercano prestazioni da supercar accessibili. Presentata al North American International Auto Show del 2014, la C7 Z06 segna il ritorno alla sovralimentazione dopo la generazione C6 Z06 a aspirazione naturale, incorporando una powertrain completamente rivista, aerodinamica e componenti telaistiche che trasformano la Corvette base in una credibile arma da pista, in grado di competere con Porsche 911 GT3, Nissan GT-R e concorrenti esotici europei a un prezzo decisamente inferiore. Il rapporto di compressione di 10,0:1 bilancia l’efficienza della sovralimentazione con la compatibilità alla benzina senza piombo, mentre il sistema di lubrificazione a carter secco permette curve aggressive senza rischi di carenza di olio tipici dei sistemi a carter umido. La potenza viene trasmessa tramite la scelta tra il cambio manuale Tremec TR6070 a sette marce con tecnologia di sincronizzazione dei giri o l’automatico Hydramatic 8L90 a otto rapporti con paddle al volante e programmazione Performance Algorithm Transmission (PAT) che ottimizza i punti di cambiata per l’uso in pista. Il tubo di trasmissione in fibra di carbonio collega il motore al transaxle posteriore, mantenendo una distribuzione dei pesi quasi perfetta 50/50, elemento fondamentale per i vantaggi dell’architettura Corvette a motore centrale anteriore.
