La Toyota GR86 est un coupé sportif léger à propulsion arrière développé en collaboration avec Subaru, présenté en 2022 comme le successeur de la Toyota 86. Elle est équipée d’un moteur boxer à plat quatre cylindres atmosphérique de 2,4 L développant 228 ch et 184 lb-pi de couple — une augmentation notable par rapport au moteur 2,0 L du modèle précédent. Ce nouveau moteur améliore le 0-60 mph du GR86 à environ 6 secondes avec la boîte manuelle, répondant ainsi aux critiques antérieures concernant la puissance de la génération précédente.
La GR86 conserve son agencement centré sur le conducteur et son centre de gravité bas, grâce à son moteur boxer et sa construction légère. Elle propose le choix entre une boîte manuelle 6 rapports ou une automatique 6 vitesses avec palettes au volant. Le châssis a été renforcé pour une meilleure tenue de route, et la suspension a été réglée pour offrir un contrôle précis et un bon ressenti, rendant la voiture particulièrement plaisante sur routes sinueuses ou sur circuit.
Le design extérieur est élégant et aérodynamique, avec une calandre avant agressive, des phares LED et des lignes sculptées pour une esthétique sportive. À l’intérieur, la GR86 bénéficie de matériaux améliorés, d’un combiné d’instruments numérique, d’un écran tactile de 8 pouces compatible Apple CarPlay et Android Auto, ainsi que de sièges sport renforcés. La Toyota GR86 est reconnue pour sa dynamique de conduite engageante, son prix abordable et ses performances équilibrées, en faisant un choix de premier ordre pour les passionnés recherchant une expérience sportive pure et accessible.
