Apex Motor Club I Notes

Apex Motor Club is a private racetrack constructed in 2019 in Maricopa, Arizona, 30 minutes away from Phoenix, as a place for motorsports fans to race their vehicles and develop their driving skills. It works on a membership-based basis, granting club members full access to the track 275 days a year, although racing at the summer peak with ambient temperatures over 100 °F is a tough challenge both for cars and pilots. The desert climate of the Grand Canyon State means a dry track surface year-round, with plenty of sunny days and a landscape of stunning open spaces from the driver's perspective.

There are two road courses in Apex Motor Club called Phase I and Phase II. Phase I is a 2.27-mile circuit with 12 turns of varying angles featuring a 40-feet wide track in all its trajectory. The Phase II circuit is 2.15-mile long and sits in the northern part of the club. The southernmost stretch of the raceway is a 3,400-feet long straightaway ideal for passing and getting to top speeds. The average velocity in Apex Motor Club is 76 mph. Club members are welcome to participate in the Apex Race Series, an amateur competition featuring streetcars and race cars organized in several categories.

Phase I Notes

The Phase I configuration at Apex Motor Club represents Arizona's exclusive private racing facility's original 2.27-mile circuit featuring 12 turns of varying angles across a meticulously designed 40-foot-wide track surface constructed with polymer-modified asphalt matching world-class racing circuits. Located in Maricopa, approximately 30 minutes south of Phoenix, Phase I opened in 2018 as the foundational layout designed by Motorsports Services International, featuring a distinguishable 2,400-foot straightaway and carefully crafted chicanes creating elevation changes and technical sections. The Phase I circuit serves as Apex's primary members-only racing environment, built to professional standards by Sunland Asphalt using advanced paving techniques for superior grip and durability in desert conditions.

What distinguishes Phase I from typical club circuits is the combination of exclusive private ownership with world-class construction quality, creating a facility where affluent motorsport enthusiasts enjoy uncrowded track access without the operational compromises common at multi-use public venues. The 40-foot consistent width throughout the 2.27-mile layout provides multiple racing lines and comfortable overtaking zones, while paved key runoff areas prioritize safety over the grass-and-gravel consequences defining older facilities. Arizona's high desert climate at Maricopa creates extreme temperature variations with summer afternoon track temperatures routinely exceeding 65C, demanding careful tire management and vehicle cooling strategies, while winter mornings can see near-freezing starts before afternoon warming. The membership-based model ensures track time availability without public track day congestion.
