A Honda fez revisões cruciais na geometria da suspensão que transformaram o comportamento do S2000 em pista. Os engenheiros reduziram a convergência traseira de -0,19 graus para -0,05 graus na deflexão de solavancos e baixaram o centro de rolagem traseiro de 101mm para 92mm, abordando a tendência do AP1 para sobreviragem repentina no limite. Combinado com molas mais macias e barras estabilizadoras revisadas, essas mudanças criaram uma plataforma mais progressiva e previsível que recompensa a condução habilidosa sem as características de fio de navalha que desafiavam alguns pilotos do AP1. Para o máximo desempenho em pista, a Honda ofereceu a edição S2000 Club Racer (CR) em 2008-2009, produzindo apenas 699 exemplares. O CR apresentava direção de cremalheira mais rápida, suspensão mais rígida, pneus traseiros mais largos (255/40R-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE070) e redução agressiva de peso incluindo ar-condicionado e som eliminados (opcionais como adicionais), economizando 90 libras.
