Der Honda Civic EG repräsentiert die Evolution der fünften Generation, produziert von September 1991 bis 1995, die die Kompaktwagenformel grundlegend durch leichte Konstruktion, ausgeklügelte Doppelquerlenker-Aufhängungsarchitektur und Verfügbarkeit hochdrehender VTEC-Antriebe neu definierte und die Plattform als Grassroots-Motorsport-Ikone und Eckpfeiler der JDM-Tuning-Kultur etablierte, die drei Jahrzehnte nach der Produktion legendären Status beibehält. Der B16A DOHC VTEC-Reihenvierzylinder produziert 170 PS bei 8.000 U/min mit 116 Pfund-Fuß Drehmoment bei 7.000 U/min und transformiert konservative Niedrigdrehzahl-Wirtschaftlichkeitsmerkmale in aggressive Hochdrehzahl-Leistungsabgabe. Die Produktion endete 1995 mit zeitgenössischen Gebrauchtmarktwerten zwischen $5.000 und $20.000 je nach Zustand und japanische Markt-SiR- oder europäische VTi-Spezifikationen mit echten B16A VTEC-Antrieben kommandieren Prämien.
