El Mazda Miata MX-5 ND comenzó su producción en 2015 en la planta de ensamblaje de Mazda en Hiroshima, Japón. Perteneciente a la cuarta generación, la que se exhibe actualmente, el Mazda MX-5 tuvo un precio de lanzamiento de $35000 cuando salió al mercado. Este roadster de dos puertas ofrece dos opciones de motor. El modelo base cuenta con un motor DOHC en línea de 1.5 L con 129 hp (131 PS), pero para el mercado norteamericano está disponible una opción de 2.0 L con 155 hp (157 PS). La transmisión puede ser una manual Skyactiv-MT de 6 velocidades o una automática de 6 velocidades, capaz de llevar el coche a una velocidad máxima de 127 mph (204 km/h), con una aceleración de 0 a 60 mph en 6.5 segundos.
Esta versión del Mazda Miata MX-5 ND también se conoce como Mazda Roadster en Japón y está disponible en dos configuraciones: un convertible de 2 puertas o un fastback retráctil de 2 puertas. Cuenta con un motor delantero-medio y tracción trasera, todo alojado en una carrocería de 2381 lbs. Está equipado con control de crucero y limitador de velocidad para mayor seguridad. El sistema de frenos incluye discos ventilados con ABS en las cuatro ruedas, suspensión independiente con muelles de doble horquilla en el eje delantero y multi-link en el trasero, equipamiento estándar para este coupé. El Mazda Miata MX-5 ND calza neumáticos Bridgestone Potenza S001 205/50R16 87V en el eje delantero y 205/45ZR17 84W en el trasero. Esta versión del Miata es un roadster muy fiable, con bajos costos de mantenimiento, que ofrece a los conductores un rendimiento excepcional, similar al de un coche de carreras en la calle.
