La Honda Civic EG rappresenta l'evoluzione di quinta generazione prodotta da settembre 1991 al 1995 che ha fondamentalmente ridefinito la formula dell'auto compatta attraverso costruzione leggera, architettura sofisticata di sospensione a doppio braccio oscillante e disponibilità di gruppi motopropulsori VTEC ad alto regime stabilendo la piattaforma come icona del motorsport di base e pietra angolare della cultura di tuning JDM mantenendo status leggendario tre decenni post-produzione. Il quattro cilindri in linea DOHC VTEC B16A produce 170 cavalli a 8.000 giri/min con 116 libbre-piedi di coppia a 7.000 giri/min trasformando caratteristiche conservative di economia a bassi giri in erogazione aggressiva di prestazioni ad alti giri. La produzione si è conclusa nel 1995 con valori di mercato usato contemporanei che variano da $5.000 a $20.000 a seconda della condizione e specifiche SiR del mercato giapponese o VTi europeo con gruppi motopropulsori VTEC B16A autentici che comandano premi.
