La BMW E92 M3 DCT è una versione coupé a due porte della E92 dotata di cambio a doppia frizione di serie. È stata prodotta tra il 2008 e il 2013 dalla divisione motorsport di BMW in Germania. L’auto monta il celebre motore V8 aspirato S65, che eroga una potenza massima di 420 PS (450 hp – 331 kW) a 8300 giri/min. Il sistema di alimentazione a iniezione multipoint consente uno scatto da 0 a 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4,4 secondi e una velocità massima di circa 190 mph (305 km/h). Ma è il famoso cambio a doppia frizione a 7 rapporti (DCT) a distinguere la M3 E92 DCT dalle altre versioni M3. In sostanza, il DCT è un cambio manuale automatizzato con due frizioni separate.
La BMW E92 M3 DCT è a trazione posteriore, con motore anteriore, sospensione anteriore a doppi bracci oscillanti e sospensione posteriore indipendente multi-link. Il sistema frenante con dischi ventilati su tutte e quattro le ruote e lo sterzo elettrico rendono l’auto facile da gestire in qualsiasi condizione di pista. Gli pneumatici di serie sono Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, 255/35 R19 davanti e 260/35 R19 dietro. Il peso si aggira intorno ai 1530 kg (3374 lbs).
