ホンダ・シビック タイプR FK8は、第十世代シビックの性能フラッグシップを代表し、2017年から2021年まで生産され、FWDニュルブルクリンクラップタイムとトラック性能の新しいベンチマークを確立した前輪駆動ホットハッチとして位置づけられた。6,500rpmで306馬力、295 lb-ftのトルクを発生するターボチャージド2.0L K20C1直列4気筒エンジンを搭載し、ヘリカル式リミテッドスリップディファレンシャルを介して前輪を駆動する6速マニュアルトランスミッションと排他的にペアリングされ、FK8は自然吸気FWD前身FK2の代替として前例のない性能エンベロープを提供した。1,414kgの車重により、タイプRは驚くべきパワーウェイトダイナミクスを達成し、0-60mphの加速を4.9秒で実現し、最高速度は169mphを超え、目立つリアウィング、フロントスプリッター、彫刻されたボディワークを特徴とする攻撃的な空力パッケージは、単なるスタイリングシアトリックスではなく真のダウンフォースを生成した。サスペンションは、アダプティブダンパー、トルクステアを排除するデュアルアクシスストラット式フロントジオメトリー、FWDの限界に関する先入観を打ち砕く優れたハンドリングバランスを可能にするマルチリンク式リアセットアップを採用し、リリース時にFWD量産車記録を確保する7:43.8のニュルブルクリンク・ノルドシュライフェラップタイムを達成した。インテリアは、優れたラテラルサポートを備えたアルカンターラ巻きスポーツシート、キャビン全体に赤いタイプRバッジ、Gフォースとターボブースト圧を含むリアルタイム性能データを表示するデジタルインストルメントクラスター、ハードコア性能フォーカスにもかかわらず日常の実用性を維持する驚くほど実用的なハッチバックユーティリティを特徴とした。生産は、初期2017-2018仕様と、わずかな化粧品のアップデート、洗練されたダンパーチューニング、改良されたインフォテインメントシステムを導入しながらコア機械パッケージを維持した改良型2020フェイスリフトにまたがった。限定エディションバリアントには、ヘリテージタイプRカラーウェイを称えるチャンピオンシップホワイトとソニックグレーパール塗装オプション、ステルス美学を好むバイヤー向けに目立つリアウィングを削除した控えめな外観を特徴とする欧州市場向けスポーツライントリムが含まれた。
