The BMW M2 G87, introduced in 2023, is the second-generation M2 and a high-performance compact coupe designed for driving enthusiasts. It combines a powerful engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, and aggressive styling, making it one of BMW’s most driver-focused M models.
Under the hood, the M2 G87 is powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged S58 inline-six engine, the same engine used in the M3 and M4. It produces 453 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, offering robust acceleration and power delivery. The M2 G87 comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission for a more engaging experience or an 8-speed automatic transmission for faster shifts and convenience. The car’s 0-60 mph time is around 4.1 seconds with the manual and slightly quicker with the automatic.
The M2 G87 features BMW’s adaptive M suspension and an active M differential, both tuned specifically for the model to enhance handling, grip, and stability during spirited driving. Braking is supported by larger M compound brakes to ensure precise stopping power.
The exterior design of the G87 is more muscular and aggressive compared to the previous generation, with wider fenders, a bold front grille, large air intakes, and quad exhaust tips. The interior includes M-specific elements such as optional M carbon bucket seats, a sport-focused steering wheel, and BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system with a curved digital display.
The BMW M2 G87 blends high performance with everyday usability, making it a versatile choice for enthusiasts who want both track capabilities and a car they can enjoy daily.
